About & Methodology
FileCompat is an independent compatibility reference for CAD, BIM and 3D software. It brings together documented file support, version limits and transfer workflows.
Evidence and review
Compatibility information is researched primarily from official vendor documentation and specifications. Compatibility relationships are reviewed before publication, and sources appear on the relevant reference pages. Last-verified dates and source review details are shown where available.
Incomplete or uncertain information is marked as researched, unresolved or unknown rather than guessed. A review date records the scope reviewed at that time; it does not guarantee that every workflow has been tested.
How to read support information
Support can vary by software version, edition, operating system, plugin and workflow. Import, export and opening a file are distinct capabilities.
- Native support
- The application supports the format directly within the documented scope.
- Plugin support
- Support depends on a named plugin or integration and its requirements.
- Workaround or conversion
- The route requires an intermediate format, conversion or additional steps.
- Unsupported
- The reviewed evidence establishes that the capability is not supported within the stated scope.
- Unknown or unverified
- The available evidence does not establish support. Unknown does not mean unsupported.
Partial support requires reading the limitations, not treating the result as a complete yes.
Facts and assessments
Vendor support facts are kept separate from FileCompat assessments and recommendations. A documented import/export capability does not guarantee that a complete transfer preserves every property.
A useful route depends on what you need to preserve, such as geometry, materials, BIM information, assemblies or animation. Check the sources, version scope and workflow limitations before relying on a route.
Corrections
If a relationship is incorrect or a source is outdated, contact FileCompat with the page URL, software version and supporting documentation.
